I'm surprised this is worse than Bensonhurst. I was on Avenue M yesterday - between McDonald avenue and East 4th. Cars *could* pass but there were very few and you couldn't quite walk straight on the sidewalk for a few blocks. Buses don't run on Avenue M until Ocean Parkway (they run on Avenue N and I didn't see Avenue N) Someone reported that the B9 was running yesterday afternoon - at least going west. Service was very irregular. There probably was no B6 service on Tuesday but on Wednesday it was running, although not according to schedule. At 7:25 AM there were two running toward avenue J and 5 running within 5 minutes going toward 86 Street. Later there were buses - not sticking tightly to schedule of course, in both directions. There was at least one B82 on Tuesday. And more or less regular aervice the next day. People didn't get mail until late Wednesday. I don't understand what the MTA did with the N train. It seems like the MTA's only plan was to restore full service and wait till then. If say there was partial blockage they could have run trains in one direction (that may have been going on with the Brighton line) or run a train through Coney Island, let's say. The MTA's 511 line gave no information. Earlier in the week it as telling you about scheduled construction - later (Wednesday) it was telling you about street closings for New Year's Eve. The website did have some vague information about subway closings. I found that through a Google search. Note places in Boro Park have only been partly plowed - not enough for cars to get out into the road some cases. I guess what it is, is that no or very few sanitation workers live in Midwood or Boro Park or Kensington. But there must be some in Bensonhurst.
